DANIEL SALAZAR, JR. IS AWARDED 2017 FELLOWSHIP

Hartford , CT – Classical guitarist Daniel Salazar, Jr. has been selected to receive a Fellowship from the prestigious Fund For Teachers Program, in recognition of his artistic and educational work.
Mr. Salazar will be undertaking research and performance activities in Granada and Sevilla, Spain during July 2017. In addition to his concert and performance activities, Daniel Salazar is on the faculty at The University Of Connecticut, Manchester Community College and is an Artist Instructor at The Greater Hartford Academy Of The Arts.
Daniel Salazar is awarded a national artist teacher fellowship
Hartford , CT, April 28, 2015 – Classical guitarist Daniel Salazar, Jr. has been selected to receive a Fellowship from the National Artist Teacher Fellowship program, in recognition of his artistic and educational work. Mr. Salazar was one of seventeen outstanding artists from across the country that was selected from a pool of eighty candidates. In addition to his concert and performance activities, he is an Artist Instructor at The Greater Hartford Academy Of The Arts, which has also been awarded a complementary grant to support his post-fellowship activities in the school.
Mr. Salazar plans to use the award to travel to the prestigious Cordoba International Guitar Festival in Spain this summer where he will be collaborating with distinguished Classical and Flamenco artists such as Manolo Sanlucar and Roland Dyens among others.
“I am honored to have been awarded this Fellowship. This intense immersion into Classical and Flamenco guitar performance will help me grow as an artist and continue to inspire arts students in the Greater Hartford area and beyond,” said Mr. Salazar.
Formerly known as the Surdna Arts Teachers Fellowship (SATF), the National Artist Teacher Fellowship (NATF) program is a grant that supports the artistic revitalization of arts teachers, offering them the opportunity to immerse themselves in their own creative work, interact with other professional artists, and stay current with new practices. NATF is generously supported by the Surdna Foundation and is a program of the Center for Arts in Education at Boston Arts Academy
Daniel Salazar performs to sell out crowd at Noche Latina
This past October The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut presented a celebration of Hispanic heritage in greater Hartford, featuring a concert by guitarist Daniel Salazar , his ensemble of international musicians and guest dancers.
The sold out performance included Latin American selections as well as original music from Daniel Salazar’s highly popular repertoire combining elements of Spanish, Latin and world rhythms. The program also featured beautifully crafted arrangements featuring the dramatic singing of vocalist Jose Paulo as well as Latin dance segments with renowned international dance champion Michele Evans with Armando Guzman, Nate Evans and Lisa Spiro.

Proclamation
Daniel Salazar was honored to receive an official Proclamation from Mayor Pedro Segarra declaring "Daniel Salazar Day" in the City of Hartford, Connecticut, in recognition of the 20th Anniversary of Guitar Under The Stars. Mayor Segarra also presented Salazar with an Official Citation from The Connecticut House of Representatitives in recognition of Artistic Vision and Leadership in music.
